About Ominuvo

Ominuvo is a catalogue of interactive world maps – and soon a generator where anyone can make a map or an iceberg chart from their own data, with no software to install and no code to write, and publish it at its own address.

What you will find here

Where the borders come from

Maps are drawn from Natural Earth data (public domain) at 1:50m scale. Disputed territories (such as Kosovo, Somaliland or Northern Cyprus) are separate shapes on the map – this is not a position on the dispute, just a way to colour them separately. The smallest countries and islands are shown as dots.

Base maps: terrain relief and atlas – Natural Earth (public domain); satellite image – Blue Marble, NASA Earth Observatory.

Data on user maps

The author of a map is responsible for its content – numbers, descriptions and links. Every map has a data table and a CSV download, so it is easy to check exactly what it shows. It is good practice to give the source and year of the data in the description.

Rules and privacy

The rules for using the site, accounts and publishing maps are set out in the terms of service, and the data we process is described in the privacy policy. In short: viewing maps stores nothing in your browser, we use no tracking cookies or ads, and you can delete your account and maps yourself at any time.
